Dear Elephants, Birds and Humans,
I am writing this with great anticipation, looking forward to our 30th anniversary dinner party on July 13th. This year we have a new venue, it is the Eagle's Nest, a beautiful restaurant and catering hall, with spectacular views. The food should be wonderful and we will have a great evening together to celebrate this auspicious event. Please donate good things, worthy of bidding, for our silent auction which we hope, as in previous years, will be successful. We will start our evening at 6:00 and the price, the same as last year, will be $40 per person. The Eagle's nest is off 17 between Wurtsboro and Bloomingburg. We have a lot to celebrate.
My birds are doing well. Aristophanes has a new playpen-bird stand that he lives on now. It has several perches of different sizes and toys attached to it. He seems to enjoy it and it is better for him than was his previous living accommodation. Emma has a great time attempting to reshape the elephant room and all the furniture that is in it and Zeke continues to navigate the house. I have to watch very carefully now that we have our new puppy, Edison, the sealyham terrier. Opie, my big dog, is fine with Zeke flying around. The cats are good too, but this thing flying over his head is new to the puppy and he has to get used to it. So, I keep a constant eye and poor Zeke is confined to his cage more than he would like to be. Things will change and he will have complete freedom again once I can trust Edison not to grab him.
We have several new programs coming up, many of which had to be changed because of cancellations. This is not an easy task and any club member wishing to take it over is welcome to do so. I always have to thank Pat Bennett for helping me so much. Our program for our 30th Anniversary will be the President of the Connecticut Association for Aviculture AKA The Parrot Club, Dr. Amy Hopkins, presenting a multi media program on the Parrots of Australia. This should be fascinating, enjoyable and educational.
Tonight our speakers are Gloria Waslyn and her four magnificent blue and gold macaws, presenting: The Parrots for Peace.
Have a wonderful month and love your birds.
Love,
Richie
